Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBC) or commonly referred to as bulk bags, offer users many different options when it comes to customizing specifications that fit specific filing requirements. The flexibility of design allows options such as stackable bags, non-sift seams and of course ability to dissipate electrostatically.
if there is no official standard classification, “Groundable Type D”, D+, Dplus or CD. IEC 61340-4-4 Ed. 2.0 & Ed. 3.0 do not permit FIBC to be labeled as D+, CD, etc. Only the official classifications, i.e. Type A, Type B, Type C or Type D can be indicated on FIBC labels. One FIBC cannot be simultaneously classed as more than one type. So, for example, classing FIBC as both Type C and Type D, or labeling as C/D etc. is not permitted by IEC 61340-4-4 Ed. 2.0 or Ed. 3.0.
Type B FIBCs are made from plain woven polypropylene fabrics that have a low breakdown voltage to prevent the occurrence of highly energetic propagating brush discharges that can ignite a dust-air mixture. Type B FIBCs cannot be considered antistatic because they do not have any mechanism for dissipating static electricity.

Type C FIBCs are made from non-conductive polypropylene fabrics interwoven with conducting threads, normally sewn in a grid pattern, that connect the bag to ground via a grounding point. The connection to ground or earth during filling and discharging is critical to the safe use of Type C FIBCs. As with any manual operation, ensuring interconnection and grounding of Type C FIBCs is subject to human error.

Type C FIBC Fabric
Type D FIBCs are made from antistatic and static dissipative fabrics designed to safely prevent the occurrence of incendiary sparks, brush discharges and propagating brush discharges without the need for a connection from the bulk bag to the ground. Type D FIBCs can be used to safely package combustible products and to handle products incombustible and flammable environments.
